i read something in the paper where there is a bill that will allow us to use 2 lines in the summer.. what are some of your views? i would like it because your odds of catching freee willy would go up 50%...http://www.startribune.com/politics/state/38404799.html?elr=KArks7PYDiaK7DUHPYDiaK7DUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU

I think it would destroy the sunny population on a lot of lakes. There are already too many double trippers out there that would probably turn into triple trippers if allowed 2 lines. This would eventually mean more re-stocking,and an even smaller average sized fish.

If it ain't broke , don't fix it.

I like it. I think they should decide how large a limit should be, then leave us alone to go catch it.

Poaching burns my butt too. I hope they put some more Conservation Officers on the water with this new sales tax revenue. I would hate to see it all go to foolish persuits. Until then, we need to call the T.I.P. line for those who disregard the law.

The problem is that many people, like me, have drank the "Catch-and-Release Kool-aid". If I were allowed two lines I know I'd end up killing more fish than in years past by having to much going on at 1 time. I'd be tossing a spinner in the reeds while drifting a leech for walleye and by the time I'd notice that giant walleye/pike/muskie was on my leech it'd be to late.

Not just that but I have always thought that a persons priorities are out of whack if their #1 goal is to catch their limit of XYZ. Two lines just encourages that mentality... and at least for me, fishing isn't about that at all.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to end up with my limit of 3lb walleye or a mess of giant Red Lake Crappie. The times that I do are just extra special days and reaching my limit was a bonus. It bugs me though if a fisherman goes out onto a lake expecting that sort of action though. A second line just encourages it.

(no offense to anyone, just my opinion)

This gets pushed every year in one form or another. Never know but probably will fail again.

At least I would like to see the one hook per line line restriction lifted. The law is stupid, yes I will say it again, STUPID! It is a worthless restriction that suits no purpose. You cant tell me that a rapala with three sets of trebbles is good, but a quick strike rig is bad.... unless you add a spinner. ::) ::) ::)

And a bait set 5 feet off the bottom with a 4 foot dropper is the devil, but using a flasher to put bait directly in their face is fine.

I dont think I would really like to fish with 2 lines out of the boat...........it is already hard enough to control the boat with 1 line while back trolling.............. .......I just think that the better the chance the more unsportsman it is..............just like the deal with bow hunting and using a rifle...........to me using a rifle is cheating.......what fun is it being able to shoot a deer at 500 yards??????   try being within 25 yards and shooting a deer with a bow........a lot more of a challenge

I agree with you there, Skipper. Those nitpicky laws ARE dumb.

Hey fellow diehard fisherman/and fisherwomen.  I just want to put my two cents in on this subject. Its not worth much but just wanted to let ya know what its like being able to fish with 2 lines in the summer.   I have been living in Iowa for the last 8 years (from Foreston MN).  What I see with being able to fish with two lines greatly depends on what your fishing for and where your fishing.  If your in a boat and fishing for walleyes it is hard to fish with more than on line per person  specially when trolling.  When fishing for pan fish, again it can be more trouble than it is worth to try to handle more than one line at a time.  Where it does help however, is when your fishing catfish from the bank and you get set two rods up. so it really isn't  worth the headaches it can cause.  Now In Minn, you have to take in consideration that there are 100 times more anglers than in Iowa (guess) so I can see it hurting high pressured lakes and rivers.  It is fun fishing with more than one hook on the line. pulling 2 fish at a time be a very exciting time specially for the kids.  Thanks for your time and sorry this is so long. ;D

there's a move in  ny to to be able to have 3 rods per person on lake ontario when trolling for salmonoids.
grandpa told me-"never wrestle with a pig. you both get muddy and the pig likes it".
