US fishing in Canada
« on: Nov 05, 2008, 06:03 AM »
Anyone know the regulations involved in a guy from the US fishing in Canada (specifically Quinte)?
I know the license info.
How about ATVs/Snowmobiles?  Like registrations and the like?  Can they be used there and if so what do I need to do to use them?

Thanks.

yep, you can use ATV's and snowmobiles on quinte....try to get some more info from  C.C, Bean or PolarBear as they were down last season fishing quinte with us, and I know they had a snowmobile with them.

The sled we had with us was registered in Pa. and had insurance on it. Don't know if that was all that was needed but that's all it had ;D. No one asked any questions about it. A ride was essential that weekend :o

We head up to Sioux Narrows, Ontario every year from Minnesota. We always bring the sleds. Never needed anything more than what they have on them.

I assume that it is like the boat registration.

Still need info on ATVs.  I have verified the snowmobile and boat registration/insurance thing but have not been able to get an answer on the ATV.

Thanks.

Have you tried contacting the authorities up there?

No - but I will - they are but one mile away.  Just hoping for a quick answer here.

I usually look to official sources for such info. I take answers on forums with a grain of salt unless official sources are cited.

Last June our party was checked by the CO when we were on the dock ... asked that ? about, boats, sleds, wheeler's, etc and as long as they have a current tag from the state side its OK ... but they can't be left in Canada when you go home. This was on Crow Lake just north of Nestor Falls, the CO was from Sioux Narrows.
I only work so that I can afford to fish, hunt, & farm

I have heard that on ATV's you need insurance to have them on the ice in Canada to be legal. Now personally I have been checked 8 times on Simcoe and never once been questioned about it just our fishing licenses. Please chime in though you guys because I do plan on going on over there again and I do like playing by the rules.
