I fished with pooley yesterday
« on: Mar 16, 2008, 09:35 PM »
What a start, snowing the whole drive to meet him .Neither of us could find our meeting place, lol. I happened to see his truck in a parking lot and we met.We go to the place he wanted to fish for salmon million dollar beach,we couldnt get out on the ice there. We never found fish 307 and had to go to another bait shop,on the way I slid on what must have been ice.My truck ended up completely turned around in the opposite lane I slammed into a snow bank, luckily no dents or damage to my truck but I didnt know the impact some how knocked off my augers gas cap. While we were stopped somewhere I smelled gas and when we looked at the auger it was completely empty.I had to buy a gas can,2 stroke oil and gas.My sled and truck bed were both washed with gas, lol,I smelled gas all day too, lol. pooley is a really nice guy.He baited all my tip ups due to me getting gas all over my hands because I got on all my equipment. He gave me alot of tips.Alot of people were fishing we didnt see any 1 land any fish on tip ups,but people did get flags,we must have been on a good spot as I'd say pooley and myself got the most fish-less flags in our area lol. Also walking out on the ice, I lost 1 cleat from my boot, felt that and put it in my pocket, but arriving home I found out I lost the other cleat, lol, but i'll say this, it turned out to be a very good day, both me and pooley were out fishing.
And he showed me the diffrence of ice. The honey comb ice and how you see it will drilling your hole.  From pooley showing me that the honey comb and black fine ice I noticed today at my lake probaly over 1 foot honey comb, then about 9 inches and less of black ice.I'm really glad pooley pointed out those diffrences to me.The sad thing is my lake's ice will be comming to it's end soon.
