Corey Lake Saturday = Waste of time
« on: Mar 05, 2008, 01:48 AM »
Went out to Corey Lake in Three Rivers on Saturday. Stopped by the baitstore and asked how people were doing. Natural reaction from them was good. I got excited, hauled the snowmobile, myself, and a buddy out there. Right off the bat, we got a hit... Nothing for 4 more hours...

I must say on the ice, it is relaxing. Not this day. With 50 others around you, it can get annoying, especially when half of them are drunk and making all sorts of noise. We didn't get one fish through the ice. I knew where the fish were. I was using exactly what others told me to use. Nothing... Most people skunked that day to say the least.

Most of the time when I fish, I am glad to be away. But on Saturday, I was ready to get in, drink some beer, and relax... Instead, I caught a cold. Prolly the last time I will fish Corey Lake again...

Chris...

p.s.- Excuse my venting, just had to do it. Trying to get off of this cold.

I was out on Corey lake saturday mornin as well.  I saw a huge crowd of people and i was just thinking hmm...i wonder if the fish are biting over there or if there were just a couple shanties there early and then every one followed them to that spot.  Personally, I like to have my privacy and peace while i'm fishing. It is a time for me to relax and get away from everything.  When i'm on the ice nothign matters but the fishin.  So i just kept walking by the whole group of fisherman who while i walked by didnt see one person catch a fish.  I went to the other side of the lake all by myself and actually caught a few right when i got there and it slowed as the day progressed.  I ended up with about 15 decent gills and perch total.

Why would you go next to a whole group of ppl if you have a snowmobile?  Corey is a big lake and with all the snow on it sat i just got tired of walking and decided to set up and see if there was any fish there and sure enough there was.  I know if i had a snowmobile i'd go explorin the whole lake and find my own spot.  Sure hope you have better luck this weekend chris.

I traveled to other spots, although was worried about the ice. The bay get extremely hard, although I rarely see anyone on the other part. Wanted to make sure the ice would be good...

I was fishing by myself until people noticed us there. Then we got crowded.

I don't know. Just wasn't a good day. Actually, I am going to be selling off my fishing equipment so I can get some money together for a new bass fishing combo...
