Vexilar Magshield
« on: Jan 25, 2009, 07:58 PM »
Hey guys, I had one in my hand the other day and was going to get it for my Marcum vx-1 and wasn't sure if it would fit my marcum. Does anyone know if the vexilar magshield fits marcum units?

To try one for free, there is one at the bottom of missaukee lake that I could put you on with your GPS.  Lost it on Saturday.  Man that thing sunk fast.

Sorry to here about your loss a1. Walkon I would have tried it but they didn't have any display marcums, They sell out pretty fast here. That would be cool if you could check the cover Ravinerat.

I bought a Mag shield for my Vex and didn't like it. It fit perfectly, protects the screen and provides magnification but limits the view. You have to look at the unit almost head on or the view of the screen gets distorted.

The onl;y reason I have my mag shield is because it keeps the snow outta the screen

i think the diameter of the circle is the same, but the shape and position of the indents around the circle are different.  i think i may have tried to fit it in the store a long time ago and found that it does fit on, but not all the way so it is not all that secure.  but.... that could have been a dream or my immagination, dont know for sure.

open one up at the store, and try it. If it don't fit, set it down and slowly leave the area  :P ;)

Before I got mine I just put plastic wrap over mine and used a rubber band to keep it there. Worked good for a lot of years to keep snow and dirt out.

The mag shield won't fit on the marcum units. The only way it will stay on is to glue it or tape it on. The diameter of the Marcum is bigger.

I've had the mag sheild on my Marcum LX-5 for a few years .. as stated it keeps the snow out.
All you need is a dremel, a small grinding wheel and about 10 minutes. Just grind down the protruding " guides " or plastic "nubs".
It's not a " perfect " fit but it works.
