HAD A GREAT GATHERING ONCE AGAIN, MET MORE NEW MEMBERS THAT COULDN'T MAKE THE BARTONS COVE GATHERING. FISHING WAS SLOW, BUT THE STORIES THAT CAME UP KEPT US ALL LAUGHING. MY SON MADE THE TRIP FROM SOMERVILLE AND I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR MAKING HIM FEEL LIKE A MEMBER. GREAT JOB ON THE WINNING BASS. GREAT BUNCH OF GUYS, I HOPE WE CAN GET TOGETHER A COUPLE MORE TIMES BEFORE THE ICE DISAPPEARS.  POOL MONEY WENT TO A GREAT CAUSE, SORRY I COULDN'T MAKE YOUR TOURNEY PORTER BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE NEXT YEAR DATES WON'T CONFLICT.   THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE THAT MADE IT TODAY.                                                            DOUBLE-D

Sounds like fun was had by all!  I was on Long Pond in Ayer with my childhood ice fishing buddy and it was real slow. We had some pretty decent action toward the end of that day with 8 fish total 5 bass (1.5 to 3lb) and 3 picks 18" or so.

Wicked nice day though! cooked, fished, cooked some more, fished some more and laughed our a$$e$ off reminiscing about the 'good ole' days as kids growing up on Long Lake in Littleton.

Al_in_all  a great day! Tourney Tommorrow on Qunisig  (my house).

hope there is another shanty gathering before the ice slips away!

This was a great day!  I was fighting a head cold but after one of those peppermint patties, I felt FINE!  I stayed away from the peach homebrew, but it must have been pretty good as I don't think it made it off the ice.   The food was amazing, kudos to the chefs.  And the company was fantastic.  This was my first gathering and it was great to be able to put faces to the names.  Everyone was great and I learned how to use a vex which was cool.  One more toy I have to add to my wish list.

The fishing was slow but at least I caught one, and it was the biggest one through the ice for me yet so that was  cool.

Thanks to everyone who showed, it was a great time.  I can't wait till the next one.

We had a great time at Bare Hill, aside from only catching 2 yellow perch and jigging a zillion gills. I try to teach kids that you should get  what you  go for the minute you leave the house. Understanding the concept and using the equipment is important so when the big one does hit you'll know what to do.

Learning how the the Vex and Marcum( make no mistake that Marcum has the bottom 5' zoom for $100 less   :) ) work in a hole was cool.

Thanks again for such a great gathering,   see ya soon   reelucky

We fished Long Sought for Pond  (Legion Tournament)   5 lb   Lm was leading until last 5 mins  a   6lber was weighted in. We had a great time all we caught were hammer handle pickerel.

Was good to have ya RL

happy to see your son jiggin up a storm and learning the vex/marcum.....was wondering how the other kids did on the other side of the island...

If you are in the market check Thorne Bros for good comparisons between vex and marcum...they are both very good....while I paid 289 for my fl12 they are now 359....

Shays Marcum VX-1 is now 249 and does do the bottom zoom....the fl12 has alot more other options but if you are interestd in bottom zoom I would go with the marcum....It is a basic unit but probably all you need....and the unit I would buy if i did it again...I dont need all the other fl12 options....

In any event it is all very fun....hope to see you again next year...maybe at the Joslin Tourney...the kids would have a ball there...Karl
