Inland Sea Salmon
« on: Feb 11, 2008, 06:47 PM »
Anyone know much about the inland sea atlantic salmon? My house is right on the east side of N. Hero and I was wondering if it would be worth my while to punch a few holes in front of my house.

Yes definitely worth punching a few holes (15) fish right under the ice with small bait,
light line leader and small hooks. I like being out in a little depth prefer 10-15 feet min.
If you get much shallower your bait will be  hammered by perch etc.

tough to say, i guess it is always worth it bc you never know.  BUT i can tell you that i live on the E. side of grand isle and i have tried it in 10-15 ft of water right under the ice but the perch bug the heck out of them.  But i always give it a shot and never caught a trout or salmon.  In the inland ponds....10-15ft of water is great range for salmon, but if i were you i would get out over some water (30ft-100ft) and set em up out there right under the ice...and use smallllll bait like said above or smelt bc if not its a long shot!!
