Spy Pond? or anywhere near...
« on: Feb 15, 2008, 03:31 PM »
Please bear with me as this is my first post, although I have been reading a bunch... Basically I just need to go fishing. I live in Porter Square so there ain't much around.  I am new to the area and ice fishing but I do have a couple tip-ups, pole, gear and everything except an auger.  I am kind of skeptical about going out by myself seeing how we have had so much rain and warm temperatures lately, although I have gone about by myself in safer conditions.  I am not looking for a best friend, or someone to hangout with, just someone who knows what is going on and would be willing to show me a thing or two.  I won't bother you with knot tying and rigging questions either and I have a car.  I just want to fish and have a dip and enjoy the outdoors.  If anyone is going to Spy pond or Horn pond or any other place near and wants to fish then just shoot me a PM.  Hope that makes sense and have a good one.

Sure, I'd be interested but I have never fished for them.  I moved here from the west coast in the fall and would love to catch one.  Let me know what you are thinking.

Yea, maybe now that it is not getting dark as early I will definitely start going more in the evening after work, (4:30 pm and I work close to the Charles), so I plan on bringing my fishing stuff to work and then going straight after work.  Probably not in the morning during the week though.  When do you go Newbraintree?

You should definitely pay a visit to Jamaica Pond in Jamaica Plain for some trout and salmon action. Its open water fishing only (no ice fishing). The pond rarely freeze over as there is an underwater spring in the middle. You can fish here all year round. You should definitely take advantage of the salmon stocked recently this past January some pushing into the teens(lbs).
