Ice Cube 4-man

Boy I really like how quick the set up and tear down is on this Ice Cube......but it doesn't fair well in the strong wind until you get the tie downs in. We were taking our sweet ole time setting up yesterday and a large gust of wind came up and took it for a ride...Vexilar went in the hole, lost a pair of pliers and almost lost a rod and reel.  Things were fine after that but I'm glad I didn't have the lantern and heater going or we would have had a real mess.

Got one at the end of last season and it does work very well.  You definitely have to put those stakes in though or it will go for a ride.

i just bought one this winter they work great just fold down the first part and then put the stakes in before you unfold it after you get the stakes in then unfold it and just tighten the steak lines if you do that it is a lot easier to set up in the wind

A trick i have learned, If i am fishing from the shanty, even most of the time im not. I have a piece of 2X4 with a rope attached to it, i drill a hole when i get where i am going to set up, quick drop the 2x4 on a rope ( drill a hole in the wood and pass it through the hole....Just long enough to not come out of the hole. Attach the windward side to the shanty, set it up in the area i am fishing and set 2 anchors on the 2 windward sides (always put the corner into the wind) Remore rope and attach shanty to the anchors. Doing this, if it is real cold, i can get inside and take a break from the wind atleast. Sometimes i just attach it to my jet sled if it isnt too windy.
