What part of the peck are You going to be fishing on?the ice is good over most of the lake but I`m not sure about the main channel.Fishing should be good in most any part of the lake.Check out http://www.hellcreekmarina.com and or give them a call,I`m sure they will have knowledge of most any part of the lake You would like to fish. :)

Say guys, I was wondering about access on Peck for the ATVlessfortunate.  Any decent areas for the foot soldier?  I'm assuming nobody's driving their trucks out.  Is it worth the drive from Great Falls to fish by foot?
Thanks and many flags!!!

Thanks for the info Whatpole.  $40 isn't bad at all.  I'll just have to call the marina for availability and such.  Hopefully I can get a trip in this season.  A shot at fish like those fish you catch are well worth the distance and effort.  Thanks, again

Jiggy,

Was that a pressure ridge, thin ice or one of those gas bubbles?  How thick was the rest of the ice when the pic was taken?

It`s been a lot colder in this area since the last trip over to Hell Creek so the ice should be thicker but I don`t know if this would make the pressure ridges more dangerous.Watch out for the methane pockets as these are the worst and retrieving a 4 wheeler out of one of them is expensive.clint said He had to strip down in -10F and jump in to get a rope tied around a 4 wheeler, trailer combo and I bet that was no picnick. They had a spearing shack set up so He could jump into it and get warmed up and get His clothes back on. :-\

I just got back from Peck.  Fished around Duck Creek Bay for several days.  Ice is around 18-20 inches.  Some ATVers and trucks out on the ice.

This area is good for those w/o ATVs, like me.  There are lots of small points and bays within walking distance of the campground area.

The folks at Lakeridge Motel/gas station (at the North end of the dam) have all the gear and info you need.  Nice people too with good hot coffee.

Tight lines.

LOL.  Some comedians on here.

Fish were caught.  Pike, perch, lakers and walleyes.  Some bigger walleyes were caught, but not by me.  Tipups with minnows are the normal approach.  Some folks have their 6 tipups over many miles and check them with ATVs or 4wds.  I had minnows in the water for the entire 3 days I was there.  Did some jigging but most fish were caught on tipups.  Be sure to check the weather, as this place can get dangerous if the wind comes up and creates a whiteout.

Im heading up to fort peck next wednsday.  We are mainly targeting pike but would like to catch some perch and walleye.   Im from wyoming and seems like most the perch stay between thirty and sixty feet of water was curios if that would be where they would be up there.

Ice is real good on the peck and some of the pressure ridges are down. There was quit a bit of snow over the weekend and if the wind stays down the snow cover should stay.gotta watch when running the 4 wheeler with any speed as there are places that looks like Your going along on the snow ok then next thing theres dirt and a dropoff on the other side, got the 4 wheeler shut down and avoided the drop off on the other side.

The perch we caught were in the shallows.  Under 10 feet of water.  Generally around 7-8 feet of water.  Some nice fat perch.  Around a half pound or so, and very good eating.

Cool thanks.   Some people were saying the walleye wont bite well on steel and said heavy line will work better.   So do you reccomend the ht quick strikes

I fished there last weekend and had tip-ups with both steel leaders and 30-lb fluorocarbon leader.  The only walleye I caught was on a steel leader.
