big lake report
« on: Dec 15, 2007, 10:01 PM »
went to big lake today w/ my daughter and brother inlaw.  i caught a 22" char, lost a very large one that still has my whole setup - so someone may get lucky and not only get a nice fish but also get a 000 flasher and a blue backed wildeye curtail minnow ;D    the ice was about 12" thick where we were and people are driving on the lake now.

you only live once- take time to enjoy it

Wow on 12 inches and people are driving on the lake. now I know why we see all pics of the cars  through the ice on big lake.  there was 16 on the lake that I fished, getting closer, when it gets up too two feet I'll drive the car out take the kids they skate while I fish.

yeah lots of people have been driving on the second and third lakes for about two weeks now a couple roads already plowed

ice is safe at 8" as long as its good clear ice you just need to keep checking it before running rampant across the lake a cordless drill and a small 12 inch long bit are real good for this.
It's alright I'm ok.......Is that my bike on fire?

Thanks for the report Komo!!  Glad to hear you had a little action.  As soon as i get home from the slope myself and some friends are planning a nite out there for burbot.  Good to know the ice is drivable now.
