I'm with Ben, beans is not the store it once was...I can't wait for Cabelas to get open so we actually have an outdoor store here in Maine worth something!

Also, if you have ever dealt with Cabelas customer service they are second to none.  I spend lots of money there and return lots of things and have never been unsatisfied with them at all.  They almost act like it was their fault I put on a few pounds and ordered a size too small!

I bought a pair of Lacross Alpha Burly Rubber boots at beans and had them for a year. They developed la leak at one of the seams, so I took them back. the woman at the return desk was great. the B**ch at the register when I came up with my new pair and my credit for the old boots was less than polite. She told me that it was a satisfaction guarantee not a lifetime guarantee, and that the boots developed a leak because I "stored them incorrectly". So I asked her, How should I store them? She stammer and huffed, then handed me my reciept and I walked away.

Why do I "need" an assault rifle? Because I'm not nearly as effective with my as$ault rock.

That's because you need two pair of bean waders, they all leak...  ;D ;D ;D

The warranty is worthless if they ain't got what you need. I tried to exchange my leaking west branch waders a few weeks ago, they had the old store closed and the new store wasn't open. I was stuck at the entrance kiosk with a guy trying to find something. They had almost no waders. After like 2 hours of this ridiculousness I gave up, the next day I drove to Fairfield and bought a great new pair of waders from FFO. It reminded me how important it is to support the little guys as I was waited on by the owner and he was both knowledgeable about his product and friendly.

Beans has turned into Walmart for yuppies. Certainly not worth the hassle of dealing with Freeport.

Jacks Traps, best traps made. Worth the trip and Tim Jackson is one of the good guys.

Bring on Cabelas!

theres just something about someone handling a firearm and flagging everybody with it that gets me all warm and fuzzy... ;D ;D ;D not to mention waiting on a bow to practically explode when someone dry fires it
That's funny, I was at dick's last week and the guy behind the gun counter handed this kid a 223 from the rack the kid was pointing it at some woman looking at shoes. I yelled at him and come to find out the kid didn't even have a gun permit. If I worked there I would have fired that guy. Gotta love department stores!

Me too and I live here. Too much red tape to even get a hunting permit. Hunting classes, background checks, and your first born.

She should have been reported as she had no right to question you.  The department manager could have straightened her out.

yup, the garuntee was for satisfaction.. you buy a pair of boots and have them for a year and they leak, at a seam is FAILURE....  so you were justified to bring the boots back for a return, screw that lady!

Ive never had a problem returning anything to Beans or Cabelas.

If you ask for a Beans fishing catalog they give it to you. If you ask Cabelas for a fishing catalog they ask you which one of about six.

Beans does carry Jacks Traps and fine traps they are.

That's right. Bring on Cabelas and plant it 1/2 way between the two overpriced stores Beans and KTP. The two stores are good but they need to have a bit more competition to bring their prices back to reality.

The only good thing I have every got out of KTP was a set of used synthetic stocks for my Encore. The girl behind the counter was tagging them and she had two sets out that were identical.  Well one was better than the other. I watched her put the price on one of the butts and it said $20. I then asked her if that was the price for the complete set. She said she thought so. I said sold!

I really miss Laverdieres----low prices and quality --- never had to return a thing. I still have a pack basket- a set of traps - a Jiffy 30- and a Little Buddy fishfinder all still in working order. Even my first fly rod came from there---a fiberglass Shakesphere Wonderrod --still got it.
