In search of early ice 2k7
« on: Nov 30, 2007, 10:15 AM »
Well I am a bit behind this year with deer season going on at the same time early ice was forming up north. I didn't have to drive north to find some ice this week. Now if the wind would lay down for a while all the lakes would be capped as temps have been very cold.

Big Pete gets a nice buck.

Little local lake starting to freeze on tuesday

Ice flowing in the river

Local lake still open on friday

Cecil bay on Shawano lake is locked up tight and has about 3" of great looking ice

The season is underway! Got out on White Potato Lake last night on 5" of ice and picked up a couple small walleyes to kick off the season.

It's a bad photo hunter08.

We have been keeping a close eye on Green Bay waiting for it to freeze. Hoping to have a good ice year so we can get out to the perch flats a few miles off-shore. In the meantime we were fishing for first ice perch on some of river mouths that had ice a couple weeks ago.

Tom nails a nice 13" jumbo perch , the biggest of the day from our group

I spend an afternoon on the pond with my brothers little guy Caden, he's just 3 years old and turning out to be quite the fishermen already.
Remember this photo? http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=12792.msg106004#msg106004

Here he is still wearing the same hat...  ;D

This last week the lower part of Green Bay is starting to get some good ice, so we head out a mile looking for some shallow water perch.

Vernon is the first to locate a school and pulls a huge 13 1/4" slob perch from the school.

Ronny hard at it hole hopping.

Ralph showing me his one dink perch.

A rare windless day on Green Bay

Evening on the bay
