How deep was the water there?  Just curious...   I ask cuz I'm always a little more brave over shallow water than deep...

Didn't occur to me at the time to take a pic.  My daughter and I (she was prob 3 or 4 at the time) were fishing at Eel Bay.  She hooked on to a fish and we could watch the fight through the ice.  Prob 2-3 inches.

Ive been on 4 inches of ice over 10-15 fow, there was water on top of the ice, when you ran for flags the water would come out of the holes.. :o .i wont go on any less
Theres only 3 seasons..open water, hunting and icefishing!

That pic of white ice scares me .Now trust me I have been the type of juy that uses a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 oly wood to get out on last ice but six or eight inches of white ice still looks better to me .JMO

We went out on 2 1/2" over 20 fow on Sodus Bay at first ice. A couple of my buddies were pretty nervous at first. It was all good black ice though. I've been on ice like that quite often. I love being able to watch the fish come up through that crystal clear ice. Pretty neat. Just got to be careful and check it often.

I have been hunting or fishing almost everyday of my life. The rest have been wasted.

today i seen the most stupidest people ever, warm weather has made the creek open up more on the lake which is highly highly visible. seen them come out on the ice but instead of following the safe path they head striaght for the open water and sink it up to the doors. get out and never seen anyone run that fast to shore. by the time i got to shore they were long gone. looked in the back of the truck with my binoculars and seen 2 poweraugers, a flasher, underwater camera and a portable shanty. what a waste the truck was slowly slowly sinking. will be gone under soon if they dont get it out in 1-2 days max. some people....... :-\
