Lake Dauphin access by vehicles?
« on: Mar 19, 2007, 11:16 PM »
Can anyone tell me which areas on Lake Dauphin are accessible by vehicles right now?  Valley River, Vermillion, Ochre, Turtle, Wilson?

I'm thinking of heading out some time this week, but I don't have a snowmobile so I'd like to know before I drive all the way up from Brandon.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum bud. Well the Ochre is not an issue to drive on and to be honest if you have a 4x4 you can go pretty well anywhere on the lake. The snow has melted big time. Good luck the bite is on.

Ochre area, access with anything, vermillion mouth, access via golf course no problem with 4x4, everywhere else still snomo or atv travel, that will probably change by this weekend if some of the access points melt, once you get ON the lake you can pretty well get around with anything, reports are decent everywhere, except on north wind days, Culls point on derby day was decent, roughly 900 walleyes caught within the derby area, not bad for 4 hours of fishin in the middle of the day. Walleyes have finally showed up at Stoney Point, Dewarles, and Hudson Bay Point, good luck! YOU NEED AN EXTENSION ON YOUR AUGERS

Was at Turtle yesterday access o.k. in the morning..late afternoon pushing water getting off about 1/2/ mile from shoreline..access at Turtle got very beat up due to traffic and went through the ice about 30 yards from shore.  Fishing near the rock pile was slow but able to limit out with nice size eyes.  Would be cautious if taking vehicle on later this week.
