BUFFALO BILL

I took a ride out to Bufalo Bill today. It is still mostly ice covered and there are still fishermen on it.  I was traveling and did not get a chance to try it. I talked to a friend who had just left.  He limited out on rainbows in under an hour.  They were all very nice sized.  18-20".  He said the ice was getting very shaky along the shore.  Not many days left with this 50+ degree weather.  We are headed back early in the AM. I will let you know how it goes.  He was fishing the upper end of the north fork arm.

If you want to fish Buffalo Bill through the ice, you better hurry.  The ice isn't as bad as looks in these pictures but it is pretty soft.  We got there at 8:00AM. My partners said the fishing was very slow.  It took about two hours to ice these.  Temp was darn near 50 when we left.  We used purple jigs and meal worms.  We fished near the boat ramp on the south side of the north fork bay.  The water is only about 8' deep.  The lake is still mostly ice over.  There are a few fishermen scattered around the lake on the ice.  There is some open water along the shore west of Rattlesnake Creek.  Several people were fishing it. I heard that it produced some trout yesterday.

I think I will uncover my boat and start getting it ready. Or maybe I will head for upper Sunshine.  Wardell still had 30" of ice Saturday. But we did not have any action there.
