« on: Feb 21, 2007, 08:36 PM »
A couple pics of the brown I got today, it weighed 5 1/4 lbs and was 23" long.  Check the New England forum under the same subject for the story.  Enjoy.

Thanks guys, it's by far the biggest trout that i've caught through the ice and the biggest i've caught in NH, it took 20 minutes to land it on 4lb test.  It's all prepped and ready to go to the taxidermist as soon as I get home from work today.

Thats a nice fish.  Good color for a lake fish.  The only browns I get with that nice color come out of some local rivers.  I'm holding out for a 10# for the wall.

They like to travel around deep holes during the winter usually just under the ice like a rainbow, sometimes down on the bottom.  You have to set a couple traps 5' under the ice and some on bottom and see what happens, and we were using large shiners for bait.

Thanks everyone, I haven't decided on a skin or a replica mount yet, i'm thinking skin.  Definately having it mounted though, this is a big brown in NH you only hear of 2 or 3 every year taken around that size and the colors, spots and fins were just to perfect.

Nice fish, definitely go with the skin mount if you kept the fish. Replicas are made from molds of actual fish, someone elses; you won't get your fish, just one painted to look like it.

Hey triplethreat...That's a beautiful "ice brown"...I would be more than happy with that!!. I've caught a lot of nice stream browns colored up like that, but never through the ice. Congrats!!!.....WK ;D
Give your son a fish, and he will eat for a day.....teach your son to fish and eventually he'll end up kicking your @ss every time you fish together!!!
