THE ICESHANTY MUFFLER CLUB
« on: Feb 10, 2007, 03:57 PM »
I would like to officially start the ICESHANTY MUFFLER CLUB...  I know there are more like me out there in the world and I'm sure I'm not the last to do this...  Who out there has destroyed a coat or another qualifying article of clothing on a MUFFLER of an Ice Auger?..   I fell victim to this occurrence this past Thursday and basically destroyed my LL Bean jacket,  I'm pretty sure they won't be able to exchange it... :D  So more or less you need to have a qualifying picture of yourself in the destroyed article of clothing from a muffler of an Ice Auger to become a member of this exclusive club.... I know there are more in the "IceShanty" that have done something similar...  Got any Pics?

Please do not go out and attempted to get burned on your auger, that is very dangerous and not recommended,  sometimes things happen and we can laugh after because no one got hurt,  I am looking for those times..  I figured I should throw that in, Just in Case.... ;)

Here's the damage...

I never destroyed a coat by burning it like you did but, my old auger's muffler shot out exhaust fumes right into my chest.  My snowmobile suit has a huge black stain from oil/gasoline fumes that will never come out.  I'm a lefty so there was no other way to hold the auger while drilling holes.  Not to mention, but it wasn't so great on the lungs either!!!   We have since purchased a new auger!!

No wonder lefties have more problems with power tools.

I'm a southpaw myself, but have no idea how I would burn myself on a hot muffly on my Jiffy 31...it is possible that I've just adapted.

Haven't been fishing in 5 weeks...have a vague recollection of what drilling a hole is like...sigh.

I have not done that yet but I did slice the bottom of my foot to the bone on my gas auger 6 years ago.

My buddy has a 10" jiffy that has the muffler on the opposite side as my StrikeMaster. Very awkward trying to start it. Takes a while to get to use to it. With mine not a problem. Design flaw I would imagine. As least it burn your hands, face or whatever........

That's why duct tape comes in so many colors now!
