Chilly Beach
« on: Feb 13, 2007, 07:52 PM »
So what does one do when it is -33 ??? Go to the beach !!!! What else !!!  ;D Went out with Blue Igloo this morning to Matlock. Slow but not bad. We each caught two eater size Walleye and I caught a stupid snot rocket. Packed up at 10am and headed to the Red where BI thinks its nice enough to sit outside...I hear on the radio its -30. It was very nice with 0 wind !!!
I think we were there early enough. Watching BI "Shack Rasslin" was quite entertaining. It was light out before he got it up !!!  :D :D

Our next destination the steam plant. This pic is in memory of "Big Walleye's Picture Hanging Acadamy"  :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Chilly wasn't the word for it....try FRIGID, BONE NUMBING, NOSE FALLING OFF....COLD  ::)
Checked in with Ac at 4AM to see if he would......maybe.....h opefully... cancel.....no such luck  ::)
Went outside to load the truck and my snowpants became unusually stiff....this is ridiculous I thought. If we have any wind out there....we're DEAD!
The trip out was uneventful until we decided to drive a little further out on the lake.
Not another soul in sight. I followed the Ford beast from a safe distance as Ac was drift jumping........making new trails.......until.... .he got hung up  :o
The little Chevy came to the rescue and pulled Ac and the beast back to safety  ;D
I'm old enough to know NOT to stick my tongue on anything metal in this cold but I experienced what they call the "cold-burn" when my bare hands came in contact with the bare metal pole of my shanty  :%$#!:......OUCH....THAT wasn't smart  :cookoo: Left a little skin on the pole.......at least that one is marked NOW  ;D
I think Ac was already sitting in his Yukon fishing and just watching me struggle in the dark with my pop-up. So cold, one window cracked  ::) I swore the fabric had shrunk!
Just when I was about to pour auger gas all over the whole thing  :%$#!:.......just to test the fabric's fire retardency of course  ;)2  ,Ac saunters over to finally lend a hand and a much needed light to find that last small pole pin.......note to self....mark the poles and holes with something visible and buy a strap-on headlamp  ::)
Now we were even.......Ac pulled on the pole and I pulled on his truck  :roflmao:
Being the expert angler he is, Ac had his first 2 of 3 fish landed before I managed to drop my first line.
Things were looking good for awhile as I managed to match his fishing skills then I hear a scream to take a look....there's Ac holding up his stinkin' snot rocket as his act of victory  ::)
We decided to leave the cozy confines of the beach to try for my walleye upgrade but being midday already, the odds weren't great.
We managed to mark a few fish.....but no takers  :(
Being hearty Manitobans....we fished the second leg of our journey without any shelter....take that MOTHER.........er..... ..Nature :P
Blue Igloo

LIKE THE WAY Ac MAKES 2 FISH LOOK LIKE ONE BIG ONE  ::)
WHO NEEDS PHOTOSHOP ;)

Put a set of BF Goodrich All Terrain KO's and Eaton Posi in the rear, now you've got a trail busting machine!
Don't even have to put it into 4x4! ;)
Ford is a good truck also!
Truck is only as good as the rubber you have on it!
But then back to fishing.
