Eastern Shore

Does anyone live out on the eastern shore who can check the ice thickness? I always thought the ponds out there (especially Tuckahoe) would be awesome for icefishing... but there's rarely any  stretches of cold weather that are long enough... Maybe this year it'll be ok?

Believe it or not... they do freeze up some years thick enough to fish. I know a couple of guys that have even fished the ponds in Salisbury. I doubt that they are thick enough this year but ya never know :).
It's time to go and I can't turn the ignition!

I'd beg to differ with Tommy. I'd bet the shady sides would be fine right now, though I fish thinner ice than most. We fished a deep P.G. Co pond last Sunday (2/4) and it had a good 3" of ice on the shady side. I've fished Leonard, north of Salisbury, a couple time a few years back and it seemed comparable with P.G. ponds. Plenty of doable ice locally, out of the sun. Good luck if you go.

Looks like these temps should hold for awhile.  Might be worth heading over there on Saturday!  Man, that would be awesome.  If I go over there then I'll put out a good report for y'all.

Hey Fat Boy,

we were on Blairs last weekend at the same time as you (group of 3 guys)...

Unfortunately, won't be able to icefish this weekend... going on a road trip to Philly. I think my brother is going to Piney Dam or HighPoint.

Let me know how it goes... Tuckahoe gets skim ice very quickly after even just a few nights below freezing so I imagine it must be safe by now.

Perbonica, I was busy with that program to move around and talk to folks.  Usually I like to do that to meet people and get an idea of how the fishing is going for everyone.  I'm sure that I'll see you on the ice again.  I like that lake, so I'm sure that I'll be back this season if the ice holds.

Well I didn't make it over there, went to Sheppard Meyer in PA instead.  My time was limited so I wanted to go for a sure thing.
