Anybody here going to the big derby at the Nip on Saturday? Maybe a mini Shanty get together on the ice is possible.

I am doing the same Kivva. I fished the pond a little bit today by the small island that used to have the house on it. I caught two fish that I so wish I could catch next week. I also saw some people get a couple of good ones in that area on my Sunday stroll around the place. Others that I talked to plan to get there around that 3am like buckmanjr. I guess I may have to set my alarm. The catching of bait went a little slow this afternoon but I think one more effort should get me enough.

I don't think we'll be getting there that early, but I'm hoping to be there by 5!

I had heard that registration was going to be out by the big island. The boat ramp makes more sense though.

The initial derby registration will take place at the state boat ramp ,located off rte.104,and once people have checked in we will move to the center island to be more central for weigh-ins.Hope to meet alot of you shanty guys that day!

how do you get there from 495?

Take 495 to Rt 24 N. You will be on 24 for just a couple minutes - take the RT104 exit(just after BK). Take a left at the end of the ramp, go over the highway and the pond will be directly on your right. Can't miss it. Parking is ample across the street from the pond in the commuter lot.

Wizzard or tc34 - How many people preregistered?? Most of the definites that I have talked to are not registered yet. I am curious how many you expect.

Did a newspaper story today by request from the Taunton Gazette,which included a photo shoot on the nip this afternoon.It went well and they are going to cover the tournament on saturday.Very interested in the theme of ice fishing,so they say. According to the pre-regist.and web info.,this will be a good if not super turn-out.

Wow!!! Congrats on another good job. The tournout is a reflection on how you guys run the derby. Nuther ? for you....Can we send one person to sign up the 3 in my group or do we all have to stop at the ramp.

That's fine as long as we have all info on the fisherman,including fishing licenses.
I am constantly getting mailers daily so expect a surprise as far as contestants.
