Hi everyone,

I dont know the area all that well so I started out this past weekend fishing Pointe Cascades.  Drilled 40 holes in many different depths on Saturday, marked maybe 40 fish all day (11 hrs.) with no takers.  Arms were tired so I only drilled 20 holes on Sunday.  Tried in a bit shallower and marked a few more fish the Saturday and managed to land 2 perch the size of my middle finger and 1 walleye that was so small you could have kept it on the hook and used it as a minnow.

Any help would be great.  If anyone wants to get out sometime soon take me with you...!

Mike, if you like Pike fishing head for the air vent for the tunnel Hippolyte Lafontaine.  It is on the south shore Longeuil...You have to get out at the first exit headding east and then get on the north side of Hwy 20 and comeback on the side road....you can't miss this...you'll have 2 big pipes in front of you...when you get there you can fish to the left for Pike or to the right for Perch....it is awesome fishing....Good luck, let me know if you go...

How many feet of water should I be looking for?  I have found the perch do not hold in the same depth of water I am use to fishing in Ontario lakes.  I'll check it out tomorrow for sure.

I like pike, but I'd also like to find a decent walleye spot, and also a perch spot where I can catch 50 an hour...

Are the pipes north or south of the Hippolyte Lafontaine tunnel.  And how far away from the tunnel.  I am going tomorrow morning and am trying to find these pipes on google maps but cant see them anywhere for some reason..

If your interested in going, i'll be there around 6am.

Try heading out towards lake of two mountains, and up the ottawa river towards carrillon.  Those are my old stompin grounds.  You are going to want to be mobile on the ice though ( quad or sled), there's alot of ground to cover.   And yes, the perch in those waters defiantly act different then the perch i catch in eastern ontario.   I fish way way shallower up there( sometimes down to 3FOW), and tip-ups out perform jigging, for me at least, 10 to 1.  Oh yeah, and being allowed 10 rods per angler doesn't hurt  8) But long set up times will hurt mobility.

would it be inbetween Pont Jacques Cartier 134 and Autoroute Louis H Lafontaine 25??  Is there parking?

I ended up going to Pointe Cascades again this afternoon, got called into work this morning so I didn't check out this spot yet.  Still havent found any fish, driving me crazy.  But I am going scouting tomorrow to this spot and maybe a few others...

for mobility purposes I have my car, besides that I have two feet...  Been looking at the Hudson area, i'll be tryin it soon.  There is just so much new water to fish here!

I tried to find the 2 big pipes today but as there were many sets of big pipes in the area I had no clue where to go.  So I decided to go to a spot that a friend of a friend told me about.  FINALLY FOUND FISH!!!  Limited out on walleye and two nice perch.  Biggest walleye 15" biggest perch 11 1/2 ".  1 hole, 1 fishing pole, 4 hours.

Ended up going 8 for 12.  Caught the small walleye as soon as I got to the spot and really wanted some for dinner.  Wont be keeping them quite this small anymore.  The bigger ones of 15" are good keepers though.  As well as the fat 11" perch!

Will be there again tomorrow,  only this time a little more prepared and also before the sun comes up...

Went 4 for 7 today.  Landed 1 walleye 15" and 3 perch 11".  Lost an absolute giant walleye as soon as I dropped the line.  Got it all the way up to the hole and snapped the line on the edges of the hole.  I had kicked in the same hole I used yesterday and I guess the edge was to sharp....  But it was huge!

I am glad you connected....Go get that big one.....How big do you think it was?....I dropped one a couple weeks ago around 6lbs.  I figure it would be a good spot it did'nt pan out...not one single bite for hrs.
Around here the perch are small...
Later got to run....

Mike, Looks like you are off to a good start in la belle province.   Props on limiting out.  I've never fished around the island of Montreal, i stay outta the city as much as i can!  I talked to one of my buddies who knows of the spot with the air vents, he seconds that it is definalty worth checking out.  If your mobility is limited to 2 feet and a heartbeat i would suggest checking out Baie Brazeau( Look for where the North River( Riviere du Nord) enters the Ottawa river on the north side of the Ottawa river ( St-Andre Est).  Directly across from that( on the south side) is Baie Brazeau.  On the other side of the river you have Baie Carillon and Baie des Seigneurs.   I've slammed em in all those spots.  I was on Baie Carillon this weekend and could not beleive the number of people though.  When i was a kid it was nothing to C&R over 100 fish a day. I have seen LMBass, White and yellow perch, pike, muskie, crappie, walleye and even a monster rainbow come outta there.  Once you leave the bay the ice is really sketchy!  I was going from 10 inches of black ice to 3 inches of white slush ice in a matter of 10 feet and had to stay off my walleye hole :(  If you plan on heading out this way in the next month or so drop me a line, my quad is stashed in St-Andre Est, easy access to all these spots.  In this small area there are soo many little spots to check, i just picked up some hydro charts of the area and have added a few spots on my " To Check Out" list.  You could walk it, we did when we were kids, but it's one hell of a hike.

I just sent you a google map link...the two tower are shaded by the tunnel landmark...use the satellite view...just before the water starts you can see the tunnel goig in the water ....it is it...on each side there's basins...I tried to find street names...seems like there's none for some reason....
Let me know if you get the link...

Nah, still havent found the tunnels, stopped trying to find them to tell you the truth...  Just went back to the Pointe de Cascades.  If  you want to get out for some walleye action this week let me know.  I'll be going out everyday after 12pm (soon as I get off work).

In a normal season we would still have ice around here after Mtl. ice has gone....But...no ice here either....Lac Saint-Pierre has closed its access to the ice...Nothing....It stinks.....
I will be going fishing in the saint-Laurent river tomorrow for big Cats...and maybe a few walleye....in open water....If the tide is right...
