Went out today fishing for walleye and pike at Saratoga Lake, NY with my dad today on 1/29/07.

Got 5 smallmouths, ranging from 14 to 17 inches, not what we were looking for, but they were fun nonetheless. Also saw a Bald Eagle flying high above the lake. What a beautiful creature, but  we didn't bring the right lense for a good picture.

The first bass of the day

The biggest, this one taped out at 17" even.

My dad with one.

All the fish were very healthy and strong, and all were released unharmed.

Believe it or not, just as good as they do in the summer. Minus the jumps.  ;D

These were caught on medium shiners. I have caught some largemouth on jigging rods looking for perch and walleye. They like basically the same lures as walleye.

Beautiful fish!! Looks like a nice sunny spot you found. Glad to hear you C&R. Also liked the report on status of fish and Bald Eagle. That is good to know. Keep up the good reporting and have fun...I'll be looking for more of your "work".
