Oh wow what a great day of ice fishing!!!

First drop down the hole I see my rod twitch and i reel up to find my herring gone. Next drop I immediatly haul up a 6lb laker. Next drop another one... Im thinking what a day this is going to be. My dad gets set up and he nails an even bigger laker. We ended up catching a few more lakers and I got my limit of burbot. My dad was able to catch a little 16 inch rainbow and about a 35" burbot.

Byers wasnt a bad hike but you have to hike in from the ak veterans memorial. Snow is about 3 feet deep and there was a good foot of overflow.

Overall I just had a great time with my dad and cought a bunch of fish while doing it :)

Oh yeah thanks for the glow jig tip fisherman jake it really helps. After I cought the burbot I opened him up to find that he was eating whitefish the exact same size as my slab seeker spoons that just so happen to glow in the dark. Instant hookups it seemed like :)

Pictures coming soon

Glad to hear you had a great time Frank and certainly glad to see people catching lakers.

I forsee a road trip in the future, guess I'll have to break out the camper a little earlier. How about it Dan, you have the trailer to haul the machines and sleds? Take off on a Friday and come back on a Sunday or Monday, Presidents day is the next holiday. I'm not much for tent camping this time of year and not sure where the nearest B&B is?

Brad the state has two cabins for rent at Byers, but they are booked on most weekends already. Link below.
