Well, it was killing me sitting out the "home opener" today so I mustered up enough courage (stupidity) to go out 10 feet off shore (very shallow) and set ONE trap so I could say I fished.  Was surprised enough to stay up, let alone have a flag!!  Gingerly, in came a nice little splaker, about 18" and the boy had to be right out there with me, no matter how crappy the weather. (NOT on the ice of course)  In hindsight, with the weather and ice conditions and all, pretty good day just to be home!  Can't imagine driving to Jackman like Scott Wright did!  Now I'm getting greedy and want another flag!

You can tell the little guy is already a true ice fisherman- the gloves are off and the cheeks are rosy from the cold.  Gotta love it!  My two cherubs were beat from two days of fishing in a row and were confined to the house- which they destroyed while playing.

No, I screwed up   I thought I read the sign up deadline was on the 31st instead of the 30th.  When I remembered to do it on Sunday it was too late.  My bad.  Oh well, guess I'll be a cheering for team Maine from the sidelines
