Website to explore
« on: Dec 31, 2006, 12:01 PM »
I didn't find this on my own, it was in a thread a day or so ago, maybe posted by midcoast (I can't find where I read it) but it's worth a look by everyone.  www.pearl.maine.edu it has info on lakes and streams throughout the state including species, depth, water quality, stocking (pre and post 1989), and alot more.  It's worth the look.  A great resource.  Maybe everyone here new about it, but it's new to me.

I had a few error messages, but the majority worked well.  I looked up lakes  all over the state.  However, it does look to be a newer site that is still gathering info.

Another good site for depth maps that arnt on ifw is   http://www.nesportsman.com/
Its a good site just doesnt seem to get a lot of action but does  have  ice reports and depth maps if you would  like to check it out.
Tight  lines and good luck tomorrow

Midcoast, thats another website that I had not explored fully.  I just checked it out and there is good info on there too.  Does anyone else know of websites that are worth looking up?

Here is another link to DIFW site that has some (but not all) lake maps in the different fisheries management districts.  http://www.state.me.us/ifw/fishing/depthmaps/index.htm
Whenever someone caught a fish...my Uncle David always shouted..."THROW IT BACK TO IT"S MOTHER!!"  I can hear that echoing across the frozen lake now!
