The one that works BEST IMO is the Milwaukee 2904. It is the safest drill for an ice auger. It has an auto stop function and if the blades ever catch, it will stop before twisting your wrist. Oh and the power is amazing!

I run the Dewalt 998 and have jacked up my wrist a couple of times - plenty of torque for an 8 inch through 16 of ice - but use the damn side handle!  Lol

100pounds of torque for every inch in auger diameter. 600pounds for 6in etc... so the best is the highest torque model available of a reputable brand... hopefully one you have batteries in already.

Dewalt makes a fine drill, right up there with Milwaukee.

I use a Dewalt DCD980 with a 6ah battery to run an 8" Nils auger on a Clam plate with the reduction gear box.  Runs great.

Drills are more than torque. If you can, look at the composition of the gears, etc. Just in the Milwaukee line there are tremendous differences between the Milwaukee line, Ridged, and Ryobi products. I always wonder about guys on here that HAD a this drill, and this drill, and that drill. If they are such great drills why don’t still have them? I love the light duty Ryobi line but my Pistol has Milwaukee on it.

Got out yesterday to try the Flex 24V drill paired with 8" lite flight. Only 4" of ice but worked perfectly. Thank you Diehard for the tip.
