Clam plate adapter
« on: Jan 17, 2024, 04:56 PM »
I have the drill adapter that mounts to the drill chuck.
II Gen I believe.
Testing it today the bearing worked out of the square housing.
Can I push it back in?
Does it need pressed in?
Do I need a new one?
Thx

There should be a C Clip on the hex shaft above and below to prevent movement. You should be able to push the bearing/bushing back w/o worry . Do you have a picture ?

The whole bearing race- came out of the square housing.
Both clips are in their proper place.
Calling Clam tomorrow.
maybe l can squeeze it back in place with some clamps

I believe this is installed upside down ...remove the 4 bolts ...get that bearing  installed and flip it over bolt it down .

Reassembled it should look like this

if the bearing is too tight to push back in try this. gently heat up bearing bracket with blow dryer. dont get it hot just warm at same time have bearing in freezer.
once the bearing bracket is warm and bearing is cold it should go in with little trouble

You are very lucky it came out while testing. Other wise it would be on the bottom of the lake.

I see the bearing housing is painted ..if that is removed that bearing would probably plop right in ...willing to bet a gentle circular  tap will do it also without paint removal ...Pressing it in with a C clamp/ vise will work as well .

if and when you get it back into place, a punch mark from a center point punch at the thinner parts of the blue housing will help lock it in place if think it is still loose in the socket. 1 good punch on the 4 sides.

If your gonna tap it in make sure you're using a face hammer, brass or hard plastic not tool steel.

Thanks for the tips!
The blue housing was mounted wrong.
Bearing slipped right in with a little help from two small c clamps.
