I tried the "sheet metal screws in the bottom of my boots" thing. They worked great for a while but after walking through parking lots and using those boots while shoveling the driveway I found that the screw heads that supplied the traction had ground down smooth and had actually become worse than nothing at all. I also found that you needed to be real careful about wearing them when you walk into Kwik-E-Marts. After clearing the snow from my deck I realized I had scratched up the deck pretty bad in places, really pissed me off but when the Mrs caught me walking into the house with them on one time right there and then I decided there was just too much risk involved. If you are going to use them as dedicated "Ice Fishing Boots" I suggest winter tire studs instead of screws and don't forget to take them off when you get back to the truck and don't eeeevvver forget to take them off before walking into the house....

Spider1^^ I totally agree. Mine are dedicated for ice fishing and work fantastic for me. Wearing in the house is a big no no! Tile floors at gas stations, fast food joints you’d be on your butt. Shoveling snow off decks and patios I wear other things for that. I do drive with them on sometimes and have no issues with that.

Yep- been there done that- never again!  ::)

I have a nice custom seat on my CLAM Kenai so I just sit down and put my cleats on at the edge of the lake now. Another benefit of having a seat on your sled!  @)

Where's the FISH?!
