One thing I grew up with and still do quite often when I get a decent size pike say 32 inches or bigger. Make some Poor man’s lobster. Filet fish, without the y bones out is best, cut into even sized chunks, heat kettle of water, salt, and a bunch of dill, fresh is best. Boil fish, careful not to overcook or it will be dry. Make some clarified butter with garlic if you choose or just squirt some lemon juice on the filet for a heathy meal.
Somebody mentioned that pike were sweet. I totally agree. Every lake is kind of different, I know of some lakes the northern pike are some of the best tasting fish you’ll ever eat.
