I had an ice king auger and yes they were from the 70's.  If my memory serves me correct the mix was 24 to 1.  If I have this correct the auger is green with a white engine.  Be careful using it as I couldn't find replacement blades for mine.  Good luck with it.

Right you are! Had the 3 HP Tecumseh engine on it.   ;)

I lived in Westchester County NY and when I got mine nobody had gas augers.  Guys used to come offer me money to go drill holes for them.  It was a great machine at the time.

Looks just like my old Jiffy painted green. Even has the same warning sticker. My jiffy leaks fuel from the carb and can’t seem to get it right. Even took it to a small engine shop and they put some new carb part (diaphragm) etc. but couldn’t solve it. It still runs fine just a little too much fuel. If anyone has a lead on a place to get a new or rebuilt carb I’d appreciate it. Tecumseh site didn’t go back to this vintage.

That's the first auger I had. It spent a few days in the trunk of a friend's dad's car at the bottom of a lake after he dropped through the ice and drowned. My friend sold it to me after having it torn down and checked out. The thing was a tank like the 3 hp Jiffy.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.
