Whitefish through the Ice

Got out to Rangely last weekend with my buddy to target Crappie, Carp, Catfish, and Mountain Whitefish! I was going for the Crappie and Whitefish, while my buddy was going for the Carp and Cats. No luck on the Carp and Cats - Hoping someone has some good ice fishing tips for us on those two specific species - But I did have some really good luck on the Whitefish!

Landed a wide variety of sizes...All were found in 10 feet or less of water and all caught on a 1/32oz Silver tungsten jig...Trailers being 7/8" Neki Soft plastic and live waxworms. Fun fish to catch and only the second time in my life I've ever caught them...First time was ice fishing the same reservoir last year.

Hope you guys enjoy the action! I did keep a couple to try and eat, tasted pretty good, very boney too haha.

those whitties can be decent eating if you smoke them... taste like fishy trout otherwise!

They were delicious! I only fried them but I liked the taste, a little fishy but firm meat and good. I think the biggest one I got was 14" but ya I definitely forgot about that haha. Next time we go there hoping for some cats/carp

Fair enough lol. I would think that these fish would be around in more reservoirs, but ya this is the only place I've caught them too.

 Thank you for posting another video you sure put some miles on your vehicles fishing at all the different locations. Congratulations on the whitefish.

LOL I just got a new controller arm, 2 new sway bar links, new brake pads, and new front wheel bearings put in this weekend. I'm thinking of getting a new vehicle come spring/early summer. Thanks for the congrats, it was a fun but cold day out there!

I only have through the ice and at this specific reservoir, they're pretty good! Going to try and get some more to smoke since I just fried this one!
