13 Fishing freefall XL

Has anyone had any issues with these reels? I have the pickle and I have no complaints about it, but I read a few reviews saying there where issues others where having with the XL. If any has some insight Id appreciate it.

Also if anyone has any good rod recommendations to put it on. I will be going mainly for Lake Trout seeing as it can hold alot of line for the deeper lakes around me.
