It's a big ole blizzard up here in the 'Burg today after about a half inch of ice covering everything this morning.  Somehow we got all our Cusk traps in.  Stay safe fellas. Glad I came up yesterday....

You might need a jackhammer to get those cusk traps out tomorrow morning. Good luck fishing up there. Haven't been ice fishing up there in a few years. Always had good luck in March.

Well, we got 3 nice size cusk on the traps, a couple more should be plenty for chowder and the freezer. Then couple small Lakers on the jig's using cut suckers. The conditions were just God awful. About two feet of snow with about 8 inches of slush under it, then 16" of good ice.  The water would just come up the hole after drilling and make it so sloppy... Took us 4 hours to find the traps this morning in minus 15 wind chill (Brutal). Between the snow machines and the snow drifts it was an adventure. But, we made the best of it, my boy held on like a trooper. Minus 12 tonight. Going to take it easy before doing it again tomorrow then headed home tomorrow afternoon.

Good Luck tomorrow everyone.

Thanks for the report Mascoma,  not happy to hear of the slush. I'm heading up Friday with a group. You and son did a good job surviving such a nasty day. Had to make you proud that your son was by your side all day, you've done well. Good luck tomorrow  and hopefully the weather will be kinder to you.
