In my area I think we will have safe ice long befor we are able to start fishing (jan1)..but I will be on my home lake setting traps for pike and fixing up a gill shore lunch

Well,safe ice for me is any ice I can slide out onto with my boat that I bought specifically for first ice.I am mounting a winch on it so that I can pull myself back to shore if the ice decides its not ready to play yet.Oh,and I am not telling where
