Big fan of the clam plate! I was able to do a dozen holes thru 12 inches of ice with each 3 amp battery. Dunno how many holes the 5 amp will do. Do need to come up with better way to keep them warm.

Great to hear it worked OK.

With the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Brushless 1200 in-lb I get a lot more holes out of my batteries than that.  The Milwaukee batteries have a heat circuit to keep them running right and are the best on the market in my opinion.  Also the warranty is spectacular, I had 2 9Ah batteries go bad and they were both replaced no problem under the 3 year warranty.

If you like the setup save up and get a better drill, and if you want to customize the setup with a spring return for the trigger there are pictures out there of a great way to mod the plate to get a spring return so it doesn't flop around, costs less than $5 to do it.
