First fish of the year / decade
« on: Jan 01, 2020, 02:20 PM »
First fish of the year to kick off the new decade, less than 15 minutes after getting started this morning. Glad it wasn't a perch or sunfish :)

Nowhere near a carp, though way more aggressive under ice. I've eaten some before, but I don't typically keep any bass, especially not from the spot I caught it from.

Ask me in a year when a new decade actually begins. There was no year “0.”

Just Googled so it must be true.

decade : a period of ten years.

Is 2020 a new decade?

The 2020s (pronounced "twenty-twenties" or "two thousand (and) twenties", shortened to "the '20s") is the upcoming decade in the Gregorian calendar that will begin on January 1, 2020, and will end on December 31, 2029.

Did not fish today, maybe tomorrow, Happy New Year.

Beauty day here to be fishing. Started the year with this guy and added a few more, another steady day but no biggies showed up.

Nice bass!  And nice fish for everyone who started their decade off right, today!
My first fish (worth mentioning) of the decade were these guys:

Got a bunch of smaller gills, bass, green sunfish hybrids, and plenty of crappie with Fishslap today!  Great start to the 2020's!  Happy new year!
Flags up, gentlemen!!!

Nice. Only trout species up at the elevation I've fished in SW Colorado, my in laws have a place up at 10,000 feet. Had to come down below 7000 to find anything else. Haven't iced fished there yet, but my son did well there last winter.

My first and second fish of the decade was the same fish! Never had it happen before, but caught literally the same steelhead twice within 15 minutes lol The poor fish was probably thinking "I just want to eat dinner and go to bed" before I ruined his night. I got skunked 3 trips in a row, and caught him the first time with about 15 minutes left to the day. Hopefully he's my good luck charm to kick start our ice season so I leave the rivers alone.
