Night fishing for perch, pike, trout
« on: Mar 04, 2006, 06:58 AM »
I plan on trying ice fishing at night.  Typically, I have always fished during the day.  I may be going to Wilson Harbor or New Albion Lake (not sure yet).  I know I can catch some pike, perch, trout, and some panfish at these spots.  Is it worth trying to go at night?  Any tips?

Welcome to IS, B-D!
None of the species you mention are really known for night fishing, with the exception of maybe trout. Walleye and crappie are the usual targets...
Ice-fishing at night is fun! Use extra caution though, and never go alone.

What Hali said......Callies & Eyes are the usual targets of most Icemen.
I have heard of good Trout at night though. Three feet under the surface is what you need to do if you are after Trout. (Browns & Rainbows)
Good Luck to you and keep us posted on your success :woot:
