Schoodic Lake Derby 2018
« on: Feb 02, 2018, 04:41 AM »
First time on this lake any suggestions would be awesome guys.  Im going to fish it a week prior and find some potential spots.  Not sure if theres Pike in here but I think there is.  Its a deep lake 188 feet max depth, Looks like this lake is a giant crack in the earth by its depth contours an was formed by Earths last expansion event before the oceans receded from Maine.  Neat lake depth structure for sure.

We fished that Derby a few years. Always did pretty good catching some Togue.
One year we fished Seboeis Lake for the Derby. Did better there with the Salmon.
If you get the chance, I’d recommend a trip Seboeis.
It’s beautiful there. God was smiling the day he made Seboeis.

There is no pike in Scoodic Lake but there are lots of little lake trout with the possibility of a big one here and there. Lots of jig rod action. Great views fun lake. Find most of our lake trout between 40' and 70' of water. Will be there for derby myself on east side 4X8 clapboard shanty with metal roof come over and say hi name is Fred

I hope no one ever releases pike in Schoodic! This will be my fifth pilgrimage to the lake. Really anywhere will produce from 10'-80'. I really like fishing 200yds off of knights landing, but if your fishing there for the derby forget about it. My group will be about .5-.75 miles out off of knights landing on the west side. Fishing hard for two days straight. Two clams and an Eskimo shanty town. Come say hi. Names Brandon

If all goes as planned I should be at that derby and Ill look out for everyone.  Im getting on at a spot that I found on the map thats fairly isolated and about a mile from the landing.

You might be thinking about the Pushaw Lake derby, which is usually the same weekend, and not too far away, thats a pike derby. Schoodic is the coldwater slam: cusk, touge, salmon and brookies (and smelt!).

Fred, Is there any general area on the lake that you can recommend for jigging lake trout? I am on foot. I have tried near the Lakeview landing twice. I had no luck, but at least I watched another angler get a flag. I didn't even see a fish on my flasher. Is there anyplace else that is accessible by foot that you can recommend?
