Trout still hitting
« on: Mar 13, 2006, 06:17 AM »
Wife and went out very early Saturday and again limited out (two each) on nice rainbows. Got the first one nearly an hour before daylight and the final fish before 9:00 AM. Here's a photo of the four fish in the kitchen sink. I was up there again early this morning. Not driving out now, after some warm weekend temeratures and rain here, though there still seems to be a LOT of ice in most spots. Despite that full moon, the trout are still hitting. Just jigging today and got a big rainbow (18 inch) right off, at daybreak, on a piece of crawler. Went deep (75 feet) after that and jigging with a firetiger Rapala, nailed two lakers, the smaller of which (about 24 inches) I kept for the smoker. I released the bigger (maybe 5-6 pounds) one. Thick fog and about 32 degrees here. Digital cam wouldn't work, evidently due to the moisture, and kept geting a "dew" error on screen. Oh well, I did get a few trout and home by 7:00 AM too!  -Jim
