Ice Fishing Mitts
« on: Dec 20, 2017, 02:33 PM »
I am looking for the best mitts out there.  I often fish without gloves on as I am doing a lot of hole hopping jigging for pan fish.  I am looking for a quick slip on, slip off sort of glove to quick warm up the hands.

Military (US) surplus. No one knows how to keep you warm better than Uncle Sam. Wool liner gloves and overmitts.

I don't wear gloves or mitts fishing but have a pair of ht polar eskimo mitts for hauling my gear out.rubber grippy material on the outside with wool  liners at least I think its wool.nothing special but waterproof and worth the price.

The warmest on this planet. Get them at a surplus store, or enlist like I did once and they will give them to you for free. Surplus store is the first choice for sure. Me and the Missus were talking about warm gloves the other day and I told here how warm the gloves they gave me in San Antonio were. Guess I gotta take a ride to Woodville Surplus in Toledo.
Thank you Lord for thinkin bout me. I'm alive and doin fine!!!!!!

I've always liked these HT Mitts....easy on and off and keep my hands plenty warm! Normally I wear a half finger glove underneath and put these on when my fingertips get cold, and I always carry an extra pair of half gloves because they will end up wet eventually

I have the Clam mitts, easy on and off, and with a hand warmer on the coldest days they are great. I hole hop and jig with live bait, catch lots of panfish, hands get exposed to air a lot and Clams keep them warm. I like the longer cuffs.
Waterproof!!!

Joe that top Cabela's mitten I have and do not use for fishing . They have fingers like a glove inside the mitten !! Do not slide on and off easy and if your hands are wet or damp from fishing it's even harder to get them on.

I also use the HT mittens. I only use them to warm my hands up when chilled. I never wear gloves, even had fingers slightly frozen together once while walking back to the truck. Sure is hard to turn the key when fingers won't bend.
