Wide width boots
« on: Nov 05, 2017, 03:29 PM »
Does anyone have any suggestions for good boots that come in wide widths? I really like the Baffin Titan style, but I haven't been able to find anything close in wide, and the boots I can find in wide have no indicator of a thermal rating.

I hate cold feet.

I looked at those on Cabela's site earlier, but no wide width anymore it seems.

Cabelas Inferno. I have wide feet and they fit great, and I've NEVER had cold feet wearing them. Just my .02

I wear size 13 w shoes and size 13 regular in mickeys fit, and I just bought 14 size muck arctic pros and they fit with some room to wear different sock combos.

They're on the way

I'm also looking for wides: how are the Infernos for hiking long distances?  I have Baffin Titans, and I love them for standing in slush/water all day, but they ain't made for walkin.

good call Dave! I picked up a pair of batas two weeks ago and wore them this weekend bow hunting. I'm not yet climatized so I figured i would keep my feet toasty in the 32 degree damp fall weekend we had. My brother shot a big buck and we tracked it later that day, I put over 3 miles of hiking in my mickeys through some rough terrain. My feet were very warm, my hips a little sore but all in all they performed awesome!

Long distance , long days on foot  has not been an issue for me. Then again I'm only 45.

Sodakdave, Best of luck on your hunt for a wide boot! I have 6E feet and a simple "Wide" is not wide enough... Most of the time I wear Sorels that are a couple sizes too large, with two liners and cut out some of one of the liners to give me enough room... I found a pair of lined rubber boots that fit better than most (new pair in the box at a yard sale for $5) and they don't make them anymore... I will be watching this thread with my fingers crossed!

Try mickey mouse or bunny boots. They come in XW widths.

Just a quick search, this place has the black (-20f) boots in 6xw

Yeah, you've got to do a ton of searching around. It took me a little over an hour last night to find a set of the white ones in 11W

I rock a 15 EE (6'5", 280# & built like a sh!t brick house) i struggle to find shoes that are waterproof, warm and comfortable with the right shoe size. I picked up a pair Redwing 1200g boots ("rutmaster" i think), they have been great for me. I will admit, when it gets below 0 F, i start to have problems keeping my feet warm all day, BUT i just rock a nice pair of thick socks to compensate. The boots are not without flaw but i dont have a pile of options and this will be my third season with them and i am still happy for the most part with the performance of the boot. I can even stand all day in them and be ok, it took 4 or 5 trips to get them broke in so they weren't acting like a compression sock, but now i have hit the sweet spot in the life of the boot.

I feel your pain finding boots for the ice that are meant for big framed men. I have a problem finding shoes in general haha.
