So I received my Fl-8se Genz Pack today. I'm not a big fan oh the Genz. Any Vexilar users reccoment the pro or the ultra?

I like the PR pack over the gens simply because I can put the pro pack in a 5 gallon bucket if I need to

Never used the Genz or Pro, but I love the Ultra-Pack on my FLX-28 !!

Not a big fan but you purchased one anyhow? I have the FL8-se. I put it in a backpack two years ago and it has not been removed since. It sits perfect and the compartments in the backpack are full of fishing stuff. DO NOT set it on a bucket, you will dump it and bust it

I have the Ultra on my 18 ...sits up high which is nice w/Trophy Angler soft case ...I also have a an original/old Pro  case for my 12 ...this case seems brittle I can see why they improved them . I also have a Genz box which I rigged for my Aqua Vu Micro 5 for when I am out and about. I would recommend two additions ca soft case and a DD100.

I've got 4 vex units. FL18 Genz Pack. FL20 ultra Pack, FL22 Pro Pack, and a FLx28 double vision.

I found that I have likes and dislikes of each of the packs.

Genz pack is durable, stable, nice switch and battery meter spots. Great handle. Nice spot for the Metal transducer holder and a great setup for hole hopping. Dislikes no tackle box and if your a float guy the float is a PITA when trying to store it on the unit. The trick to the genz box is get a pro mount to mount the face on so you can turn the head on the box.

ultra pack is nice, and fairly durrable. the optional cup holder and plastic transducer arm are good add ons. the pole holders and a small tackle box are all great options. the handle sucks with the built in spot for the float......good idea but just to wide thick of a handle and the closed in battery sucks if u need to swap out a battery on a fishing trip.

Pro Pack 2 is about the least durrable pack. float management sucks on it. tackle box and everything else is great.....they should make it a touch taller.

i would not rule out the genz pack yet.  i have 3 different flashers and love the genz pack the most cause the kids 11 and 8 can hole hope all around i don't have the feeling that they will break it.  that thing has taken a beating for sure and is bullet proof.  i have an older fl 8 and a newer fl 8se and work awesome for how we fish around here.  i also have a fl 22 in a pro pack and i will pro get another genz pack and do some custom mods to it.  i just throw them in a milk crate and go.

Pro pack and ultra pack are nothing special.i wouldn't spend the dough for a replacement for the genz pack.jmo

x2. Maybe get a longer eye bolt to hang transducer from. I did on both of mine and glad i did.
