Mobile power pack
« on: Jan 09, 2017, 08:13 AM »
You see these things all over now they typically have a usb output for charging cell phones and laptops has anyone tried to run a locator off one. I have seen them up to 20,000 mAh or 20 Ah of under $50. i was just wondering if anyone has tried to use one of these to power a flasher or graph.

Check out youtube test videos of these.  Most of the cheap ones lie about the Ah ratings.   Just my .02

Anyone know what size of one I would need to charge or help maintain my marcum recon 5? Then maybe make it last all day it has the USB cable end for the 110 wall charger.

If you can use a USB charger for your marcum these would be an option. Woot.com or Amazon usually has one pretty cheap. I don't know if the Ah ratings are legitimate but some of these claim 20 Ah so even if you got half that you are still getting the equivalent of a really good SLA battery in a very small package for less than a lithium battery.

I added a cig lighter plug to my flasher so I could charge the battery in the truck on the way to the lake. It also makes charging on the ice simple with a 12 volt battery pack. If you havent gone through the flipover power box thread, there are 100 ways to make a mobile power pack for lights as well as charging your flasher/camera/phone on the ice. A great project for the DIY person:
