Dink disposal?
« on: Jan 15, 2017, 07:25 AM »
I got the chance to get out on a Wawasee channel yesterday afternoon and found nearly 3 dozen 3-5 inch gills left on the ice from the morning bite.  I fish here alot and it's definitely heavy with dinks, but I have never seen anyone pull so many out and just leave them.  The property owners (who don't fish) were not happy.  Curious on why someone would do this, again this was wawasee not a little overpopulated farm pond.  Many of these fish were still alive.

Thanks!

They do it because they are stupid.  It is illegal under wanton waste and if caught the DNR will ticket the person.  If you see them doing it, call the DNR.

they should take them home and put them in the garden.  next time, gather them up and smash them into a couple of your holes and sit back and hold on.  ;D
real fishermen don't ask "where you catch those"

30 cigarette butts on the ice was a nice touch as well.  I have always had this crazy idea that if you throw small fish back the will grow......

i hate it when people do this! they are too stupid to realize those will be keepers soon enough. and then all the fish they would have made are gone too.
those are fish you would have caught when they grew up, so they ruined it for you and will continue to do so unless stopped.
i am glad there is law in place for stupid people like those. just take pics of plates when you show up and watch where they go when they get off of the ice and call the dnr if you see them doing it while your there.

I get why this bugs you but try not to let it some people are just taught it's a way of doing things. My great grand father always does this and I agree with both theories here is it a waste maybe but it does also help other animals during harsh winter have something to eat.  I've been out before and had gulls flying all around and have Fed them pretty entertaining when the big ones aren't really cooperating.  We also have an eagles nest near by one place I fish the land owner actually asked me to leave a few fish behind as he enjoys seein the bird around.  I dunno just a positive spin on things I guess but ur right 30 is a little overboard
