Im not sure if getting your tip-ups run over by a sled flying on the ice counts as harassment or not but this has happened to me a few times. Or having the sled run a few laps around your hut a couple of times then drive away.
The worst I've seen was by a certain overweight PRO ice fisherman that is very well known in Minnesota on Leech lake about 5 years ago.. went out to a hump I've known for years being a good walleye spot at sunset. This guy driving thru 3' of snow pulls up to the hump with a bunch of guys he is guiding..we were set up and fishing walleyes already biting .... starts yelling and swearing that I was on HIS spot and that I only found it by following him? Wow... there were not even any tracks to the hump I had blazed a trail. After done making a royal scene in front of his clients the funniest thing was he locked his suburban with keys inside and running..it was about -15F out side. We went back to catching walleyes and when we left a hour later they were still trying to get into the suburban. Needless to say I did not offer to give anyone a ride back to shore. I have not bought a lure or anything from any company that uses him as a spokesman since.. go figure. I probably should have called a warden and pressed charges on the jerk..
No a B
I thought you were talking about Dave genz
I started this post to talk about anyone who occasionally runs into my problem with a select few in the area who don't use decent on-ice manners. I'm curious as to what others have experienced, if anything. Most people I meet on the lake are good people. There are just those few who like to make life difficult for fishermen. I have one who lives down the road who likes to harass people on the lake I live on, including me. (he once chased my neighbor off the lake with a rifle). There have been a couple others here and there and I've decided to get cute by intentionally putting my permanent in a bad fishing area so they think that's where the fish will bite (they go where they see houses). I've even gone as far as catching fish at another spot on the same lake where they do bite and put the fish outside my permanent so they think they're fishing in a good spot. One of these yahoo's and his friend were drilling holes galore by my permanent but weren't catching anything. I haven't seen these guys in a couple weeks now. My clever way of dealing with the bad seeds of the lake.
