Me and my dad pulled our shack off the eastern last weekend, scarry as hell too. Went out at low tide and because the wind had moved the ice we inadvertantly crossed the channel w/ out knowing it. There was only about 2 inches o ice then, so im sure it hasnt gotten much better, and wont so i would say sea smelting is done for the year. On ice atleast.

Man, Those poor sons of guns who count on this time of year to make their $ from smelting camps... James Eddy, Jim Worthings, etc... I really feel bad for them
