SALISBURY, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police say a snowmobiling accident on a frozen lake has killed three people — including a 3-year-old girl.

Police say three snowmobiles carrying six people altogether went through ice on Lake Dunmore near Salisbury around noon Saturday.

After the first two submerged, the third sled began to go into the water when operator Terry Flynn pushed her rear passenger, a 4-year-old, to safety before going in.

Flynn and the occupants of the first two sleds — her husband Kevin Flynn, daughter Carrie Flynn, grandchild 3-year-old Bryanna Popp and another child, 6-year-old Jeremiah Popp — were pulled from the water.

Killed were: 50-year-old Kevin Flynn of Whiting; 24-year-old Carrie Flynn of Whiting; and 3-year-old Bryanna Popp.

They were pronounced dead at a Middlebury

What a tragedy!  It wouldn't do any good to make constructive criticism on this forum, because the majority of sled riders aren't going to see it. It boils down to not knowing the hazards of traveling over frozen water as opposed to land.

Am reading this wrong?
It says this happened in 2010. Why is it just coming up now?

Woodchip's account was probably hacked, looks like a spamming attempt.
