I understand that folks like polarized lenses to cut surface glare on open water, to see into the water.  What is the primary benefit of polarized for ice fishing?  Sincere question.

I find that helps cut the glare and I can see down the hole while standing sight fish out in the open. We have mainly clear glacier lakes so it's easy to see the jigs 8 foot down. Crappie swim up suck the jig right in.

I had a pair of Bolle with a TRU Brown lens, they were great on water and everywhere else I went.  They were $150 or so but were given to me by a local hunting celebrity.    They were the first really nice glasses I ever had and I took care of them.  They lasted 3 years.  I use to go through 3-4 pair of cheap glasses a year, mostly because I would lose them.

This year I had prescription sunglasses made with a brown polarized lens, I don't have a prescription but I had the reader bifocal put in them.   I couldn't tie lures without my reading glasses.  I also bought some $20 cheapie sunglasses from wally world that have a bifocal.

Key is to take care of them, careful what you clean them with, using the wrong cloth to wipe them will scratch them quicker than anything.

Check out Fishgillz.com. I have 2 pair & they are pretty nice for under $50.00. They have different colored lens & different body shapes to choose from .

I bought a pair of Drake sprigs that are polarized.  They are normally $110 but they are 50% off when I ordered, think it ran until April.  I usually wear polarized Oakley's.  I didn't want to take my expensive Oakley's out ice fishing so I tried the Drakes.  I really like them and they came with a zippered case to protect them.  For $55 they can't be beat for hunting and fishing.
