Munising/Au Train Bait
« on: Dec 02, 2015, 03:21 PM »
Hello!  First time post.  My sons, father in-law, and I make an annual ice fishing trip to Curtis every year from central Ohio.  This year we're heading to Au Train Lake for a change in February.  I've been looking on-line (yellow pages, DNR, etc.) for a bait shop in Munising, but I can't find anything that I'm confident would carry an assortment from shiners up to pike suckers.  Any help on the name of a shop would be greatly appreciated.  Best wishes to everyone for a safe and successful season!

Hillside Party Store on 28 heading into Munising is where we got our bait last year.  Never did get suckers so not sure if they had them. https://m.facebook.com/HillsidePartyStore/

February is a slow time for fishing.  I never plan a fishing trip in February.  Actually pretty much quit fishing for the month every year.

Can be.  My best fishing last year though was in the month of February.  Granted this was on LBDN.

Yep, I agree.  If my boys were older (out of school)  I'd prefer to head up a lot earlier, but their school lets out for a few days in February so they won't miss any school.  So that's when mom says I can go  :)

That would be neat to see.  We're far from experts at this being from Ohio, but so far we've always managed to find some fish even on new water, and it doesn't take many too make us happy.

It's a family trip and the reservations are set.  Hopefully we'll catch a few.  Really just wanted to know the name of a decent bait shop.  Thanks.

there is a bait shop on au train lake that sells tackle and minnos. that's where I go when I fish it and they usually let ya park there if your spending money there since you can access the lake from the shop. I forget the name but its on the west side of the lake off of au train forest lake road. a local should be able to get ya there. there are some dandy perch there if you can find them, but from what ive herd the walleye fishing kind of dropped off this summer. I usually fish the point across from the bait shop, we get perch and walleye there, or along the west shore line where au train forest lake road runs along.
